Can I ask what was your first impression of TGCF and if it turned out wrong or right?
My first impression of TGCF was "this goof continuously ascends to -- and gets kicked out of -- heaven, this is going to be clown town isn't it?"
And honestly I stand by that one, I think I was completely correct**
(**barring the fact that this goof will then go on to experience ever conceivable horror known to man but honestly I mostly expected it after MDZS)
#tgcf#heaven official's blessing#xie lian#hua cheng#hualian#honestly i was pretty spot on with my tonal assumptions for TGCF which is why i didn't include it in the previous post#after getting my shit rocked by MDZS i was feeling a bit more accustomed to mxtx's tendency to mix humour and tragedy#so i expected things to Go Bad sooner or later#that being said i was WILDLY unprepared for book 6 the post-banishment arc nearly k i l l e d me#straight up took me 4 calendar months to read bk6 because i'd read about 3 pages and then need to crawl away and cry for a bit#it intrigues me how with both MDZS and TGCF the backstory stuff is AGONIZING#and there can be some reckoning with that in the present#but as a general rule the present day plot is were the comedy and whimsy and romance lives & the backstory is where PAIN AND SUFFERING live#i'm not sure why i was so startled by SVSSS's vibe since it's fairly similar to the other two#the stuff i saw on my dash led me to think it was mostly humour/fluff though and i was admittedly VERY biased against isekai#very very pleasantly surprised by SVSSS i'm enjoying it alot#i'm amused and humbled by the new followers i've recently collected#i assume it's mostly svsss's fans that know A Storm Is Coming and are sitting back with popcorn to watch me suffer in real time - if so#cheers#my art

And for some reason it is always Morpho Knight who gets to say it, which wasn't intentional lol.

#I've had cognitive impairment from covid before but not to where i feel intellectually dumb when i write#my college papers and my writing projects dont sound like “me” as of late#its very bare bones and doesn't have the descriptiveness or humanity i normally give#like i see the scenes or what i want to say in my head#but what i type aint matching up#and yeah i naturally get into slumps like that but this is like that slump x 9000#I'm kinda scared this round might've given me brain damage#havent been feeling all the way like myself#but i also know too that covid takes a while to heal from and of course theres long covid shit which ive dealt with before#im just frustrated guys#i feel like within the last 3 to 4 months i finally healed from my last bout of rona#and i get it again and im back to square one#i just want to write and feel okay with it and not feel so stuck just trying to come up with a basic sentence#seriously even writing basic shit is hard right now#it took me a week to get 5 pages on duality#and im used to churning out at least 10 pages on my projects at minimum every couple days to a week#man give me chronic pain anyday but don't take away my mind and the freedom that comes with that#sorry guys im feeling sad#i know i gotta give myself time but im impatient#i hate how right before i caught covid again i was gonna get my flu shot and an updated covid vax#wish i could've avoided this crud#having weird chest shit too#was a heart thing now its gerd now its potentially back to a heart thing#im tired#i need a hug#i love you 🫂💙#magenta is my vent word

my favorite thing in Romance Discourse is the thing where people are like "I've had Enough of Smut, it feels like all Smutty Scenes are just Filler, and I Want Real Emotion, Why Are There So Many Pointless Smut Scenes"
and I'm like "I really don't feel like I read a lot of pointless sex scenes, am I just weird"
and then these people list the books they read and it's all like "Breeding the Housemaid", "Fill 'Er Up", "Manny's Bi Awakening"
#romance novel blogging#and to be clear lol first off i made those titles up and second it is FINE if you like them#i've def read some and enjoyed them#but like idk if all you read is 120-page KU novels that are MEANT to be 80% sex#it's truly unfair to act like the genre as a whole is this cesspool of unnecessary sex scenes#and to be clear i actually think the POINT of those books is sex so like... the sex isn't unnecessary there either?#idk it smacks of puritanical bullshit to me#if i was to compile an average out of the hundreds of romance novels i've read across many subgenres#and of many page lengths#i would hazard a guess that they max out at 3-4 sex scenes#which in a book that's usually 300-400 pages#is not a fuckton of page time#and if anything trad publishing is going away from more sex on the page#unfortunately...........#ofc in response indie is giving people what they want (more sex) and becoming hotter and hotter#HOWEVER.#if all you read is super short indie freebies that are meant to titillate.........#yeah it'll be more sex heavy#additionally i think some of this comes from the fact that some readers are basically just reading KU contemporaries and freebies#which i get! books cost money!#it adds up#but this does mean your pool is even more limited#idk idk it just bugs
